Join the US-China Business Council (USCBC) for Gala 2014 on December 4 from 6:00-9:00 pm at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. The event will celebrate USCBC and its membership’s history of leadership, achievements, and partnerships in support of an expanded US-China commercial relationship.

Gala Program Highlights

This year, we mark the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the United States and China. On this occasion, the US-China Business Council will be honoring two distinguished guests, Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski and Iowa Governor Terry Branstad

Dr. Zbigniew Brzezinski, national security advisor to President Jimmy Carter, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his pivotal role in the normalization of diplomatic relations between the United States and China in 1979. USCBC is honoring him for helping establish what has become the most important bilateral relationship on the global stage. Dr. Brzezinski’s keynote remarks will focus on the current state of US-China relations and managing the array of challenges that arise as the US-China relationship evolves.

Governor Terry Branstad is being recognized for his leadership in expanding and strengthening bilateral commercial relationships with China on the state and local level. In 2012, Gov. Branstad hosted then-Vice President Xi Jinping in Iowa, and, in turn, now-President Xi has hosted Gov. Branstad in Beijing. At both meetings, commercial opportunities were high on the agenda. Gov. Branstad will share his perspectives on the importance of the commercial relationship with China for state and local economies.

USCBC looks forward to honoring these two distinguished leaders who, each in his own way, contribute to the strengthening of US-China relations at the national, state, and local levels today and into the future.

Key stakeholders in the US-China relationship, including US and PRC government officials, members of Congress, business executives, and China specialists from think tank communities, will be invted to attend this celebratory event.
