New data and stricter measures for travelers coming to Beijing are filling in the picture of the economic impact of COVID19 in China. The Caixin/Markit services purchasing managers’ index fell to 26.5 in February, down from 51.8 in January. Simultaneously, the auto industry has suffered an 80% decline in sales in February.

With that as the backdrop, we’re on the line this week with Lipei Zhang, our deputy director in Beijing.
